»Of Peace and Police: Household Discipline, State Punishment, and Global Governance«
Markus Dubber is Professor of Law at the University of Toronto. He is editor-in-chief of Critical Analysis of Law: An International & Interdisciplinary Law Review and the Oxford Handbooks Online: Law.
At present he is, on the invitation of Professor Klaus Günther and the Cluster of Excellence »The Formation of Normative Orders« a Fellow at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften.
About the project
This is an attempt at a critical analysis of the concept of peace in Western legal-political thought and practice from a comparative-historical perspective, from the householder’s power to protect the peace of his household through the sovereign’s maintenance of the peace of the commonwealth to the pursuit of world peace.
For organizational reasons, please be so kind to let us know in advance (possibly till June 7) if you will be able to attend the discussion and if you will be able to join the following lunch at 1 p.m. Thank you!
