Darrel Moellendorf
Professor of Philosophy, San Diego State University, USA (Cal.)
Resident at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: June 2010; June/July 2011; August 2012−July 2013 Research topic at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: »Climate Change and Justice« Project outline: Responding adequately to anthropogenic climate change is presently one of the most important tasks before humanity. Climate change raises a number of exceedingly important moral questions calling for appropriate policy responses. It is widely appreciated that this is the case, but exactly what the questions are and what it is reasonable to do in response is not well-understood. My research is aimed at providing clarity on some of the most important of these questions.
During my stay at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften I will be working primarily on a book manuscript. The book will be called Dangerous Climate Change: Values, Poverty, and Policy and will be published by Cambridge University Press. The book is intended for a wide audience of people interested in climate change policy. I will also be working on articles on just war theory and global justice.
