Research topic at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften:
»The Past Future of European (Post-) Democracy«

Project outline:
My research project intends to question the originalities and the use of the »post-democracy« concept to specify how it can help to understand what kind of »democratic deficit« the EU is currently confronted to: to what extent does this concept regenerate the well-defined and already overmanned studies on »the democracy crisis«? Moreover, I should also put forward an internal criticism in order to determine whether the synthesis it is trying to implement between democracy and non-democracy proves to be convincing: do the post-democratic ambivalences help us to better map the contradictions specific to the democratic puzzle, especially in the EU specific case? (Aliénor Ballangé)
