Daniel StatmanProfessor of Philosophy, University of Haifa Resident at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: January–February 2013, May–July 2023 Research topic at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: »Political Philosophy and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict« (with Yitzhak Benbaji) Project outline: The last two decades or so have witnesses significant progress in three topics in political philosophy: (1) territorial rights, (2) group rights, in particular the right to national self-determination, and (3) just war theory. The purpose of our book project is to use the research on these topics in order to offer a fresh look on key points of disagreement regarding the Jewish- or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. (Daniel Statman) Research partner: In 2013, Daniel Statman was invited by the DFG Collaborative Research Group »Justitia Amplificata. Rethinking Justice − Applied and Global«. In 2023, he will work at the Institute at the invitation of the Director of the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften Matthias Lutz-Bachmann. His stay is funded by the Stiftung zur Förderung der Internationalen Beziehungen der Goethe-Universität.
