Microcosm of understanding
Interreligious conference from Israel at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften at Goethe University Frankfurt

On the initiative of a research group from Tel Aviv University, religious leaders from Israel came together at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften at Goethe University Frankfurt for an interreligious conference from February 4–6, 2024. In what is currently a unique constellation, liberal and orthodox Jews, Muslims and Christians of different denominations met to discuss the future of Israel and a new relationship between religion and politics. The discussion’s aim was to understand the principles of liberal constitutionalism from different religious perspectives and traditions: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity were reexamined to shed light on Israeli civil society and politics.

Tel Aviv University is a close partner of Goethe University. In 2022, the two universities founded the joint »Center for the Study of Religious and Interreligious Dynamics«, which took part in the creation of the conference at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften. The talks that began here will be continued in the near future.
