»Nach dem Krieg: Die Imperien in der Kritik«Abstract
Kritik an der kolonialen Expansion hat es aus unterschiedlichen Gründen seit ihren
Anfängen immer gegeben, auch war sie kein vornehmlich europäisches Phänomen.
In der Regel äußerten sich anti-imperiales Denken und Handeln in Zeiten krisenhafter
Erschütterungen und Umbrüche der Imperien, sie reflektierten dahingehend
innere und äußere Versuche der Neupositionierungen kolonialer und imperialer
Herrschaft. Der Vortrag nimmt nationale und internationale Debatten in den Blick
und konzentriert sich auf die Zeit nach dem Ersten
Weltkrieg, als die Suche nach einer neuen
Weltordnung nicht zuletzt die Frage nach imperialen
Ordnungsvorstellungen und die Bedeutung
von Kolonialreichen zur Diskussion
stellte.

Das Historische Kolleg im Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften der Goethe-Universität widmet das Jahr 2017 dem Thema: »Imperien und ihr Ende«. Das Forschungsprgoramm wird von Christoph Cornelißen (Professor für Neueste Geschichte, Goethe-Universität) und Professor Dr. Thomas Duve (Professor für vergleichende Rechtsgeschichte, Max-Planck-Institut für Europäische Rechtsgeschichte, Frankfurt am Main) wissenschaftlich geleitet.
