»Die Geburt der Ethik«

Während meines Aufenthaltes werde ich an der Fertigstellung meines Buches »The Birth of Ethics« arbeiten. Das Buch geht auf die »Tanner Lectures on Human Values« zurück, die ich im April 2015 in Berkeley gehalten habe.

Wissenschaftliches Profil

Philip Pettit ist Rockefeller Universitätsprofessor für »Politics and Human Values« an der Princeton University, wo er seit 2002 Politische Theorie und Philosophie lehrt. Seit 2012/13 ist er Außerordentlicher Professor an der Australian National University in Canberra.

2009 wurde er zum Fellow der »American Academy of Arts and Sciences« gewählt, 2010 zum Ehrenmitglied der »Royal Irish Academy«, 2013 zum Corresponding Fellow der »British Academy«. Er ist Fellow der »Australian Academies in Humanities and Social Sciences«.

Er ist vielfach ausgezeichnet worden - u.a. als Ehrenprofessor an der Sydney University und der Queen's University in Belfast - und er wurde u.a. von folgenden Universitäten geehrt: National University of Ireland (Dublin), the University of Crete, Lund University, Université de Montréal und der University of Athens. Das Buch Common Minds: Themes from the Philosophy of Philip Pettit ist 2007 von Geoffrey Brennan, R.E.Goodin, Frank Jackson und Michael Smith bei der Oxford University Press herausgegeben worden.
