Become a Fellow

At the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, Frankfurt University researchers work together in project groups with visiting academics from other research institutions on interdisciplinary problems in the human sciences. Here they can concentrate on the relevant scientific questions away from the distractions of day-to-day university life. The visiting academics are appointed as Fellows by the Director. Scientific exchanges take place at the Institute itself in the form of regular colloquia and discussions.
The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities does not at present have a research budget of its own. For this reason, only projects funded by third parties can currently be accepted. Projects as a rule have a term of two to three years. On completion, a public presentation of project outcomes is required.
The Institute for Advanced Studies also accepts proposals for Frankfurt University scholars to reside at the Institute with two or three guests who wish to work together with them for a specified period on subjects within the human sciences.
Proposals for projects and Fellowships should be addressed to the Director of the Institute, Professor Dr. Spiros Simitis.
