Focusing on ideologies of conflict and hate, built around systems of caste, ethnic and racial discriminations, this book revisits how B. R. Ambedkar and W. E. B. DuBois, two prominent early twentieth century thinker-activists, envisaged constitutionalism and principles of social »endosmosis« as possible means of dialogue, social justice and inter-community trust building. Examining conventional definitions of the archive, this study explores the possibility of a more effective discourse of »anarchiving« that historicizes the present in such a way so that potential spaces of subject formation and social critique can be fortified for future. Wissenschaftliches Profil von Anindya Sekhar PurakayasthaAnindya Sekhar Purakayastha ist Professor am Department of English an der Kazi Nazrul University in Indien, wo er als Ko-Koordinator das Centre for Critical Social Inquiry leitet. Gegenwärtig ist er außerdem Professor an der School of Translation and Cultural Studies am Institute of Language Studies and Research (ILSR) in Kolkata. Er wurde zu mehreren Auslandsaufenthalten eingeladen, u.a. an die University of Massachusetts, Amherst, an das Institute for Critical Social Inquiry an der New School for Social Research in New York und an die Linné-Universität in Schweden. In seinen Forschungen interessiert er sich gegenwärtig vor allem für postkoloniale Literatur und kulturelle Praktiken, kritische Theorie, Übersetzung sowie politische Gewalt und Bürgerrechte.
