Menachem Fisch ist Joseph and Ceil Mazer Professor em. für Wissenschaftsgeschichte und -philosophie und Direktor des Center for Religious and Interreligious Studies an der Tel Aviv University.
Fisch hat umfassend über die Geschichte der britischen Mathematik, Philosophie und Physik im 19. Jahrhundert, die Theologie talmudischer Literatur und die Philosophie talmudischer Rechtsliteratur publiziert. Der Fokus seiner aktuellen Forschungen liegt auf den Grenzen normativer Selbstkritik, dem talmudischen Streit über Religiosität und der Historiographie des Übergangs von Rahmenkonzeptionen in der Wissenschaft. Fisch war Fellow u.a. am Queen’s College in Oxford, Trinity College in Cambridge, Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, Collegium Budapest und dem Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften in Bad Homburg. 2016 wurde er mit dem Humboldt-Forschungspreis ausgezeichnet; 2017 erhielt er die Ehrendoktorwürde des Fachbereichs evangelische Theologie der Goethe-Universität.
2016 wurde seine Arbeit in dem von Hava Tirosh-Samuelson und Aaron W. Hughes hg. Band gewürdigt: Menachem Fisch. The Rationality of Religious Dispute (Brill Library of Contemporary Jewish Philosophers).
