»Hope and the Climate Crisis«

Abstract
The climate crisis is unfolding in ways that are already causing destruction and suffering. These events give reason for fear and worry. But there are also reasons for hope. These hope-makers are important sources of motivation for action. One important hope-maker is a positive vision of the direction in which our societies can be transformed that builds on recent history. This is what Ernst Bloch calls a concrete utopia. This talk defends the idea that sustainable prosperity is a concrete utopia for present times. The upsurge in activism among young people is another important hope-maker.
