Research on Modern Judaism
The Buber Rosenzweig Institute is established at the initiative of Christian Wiese

A new institute has been founded at Goethe University - the Buber Rosenzweig Institute for Research on Modern Judaism. It was established by Christian Wiese, holder of the Martin Buber Chair for Jewish Thought and Philosophy at Goethe University. Since his appointment to the university in 2010, Wiese has developed this chair into a research center that explores Judaism in the modern age across disciplinary boundaries from philosophical, religious, social, historical and cultural perspectives. The governing board of Goethe University welcomes and supports the founding of the institute as it will strengthen and raise the profile of this interdisciplinary research field at the university and increase its existing international visibility.
